SHANNON MCLAUGHLIN

With 20 years of experience in communications, Shannon McLaughlin has served as the Assistant Director of Marketing at River Oaks Health System, Advertising Coordinator for the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, Media Buyer for The Cirlot Agency and Business Manager for Mitcham Strategic Partners.

A graduate of Millsaps College, McLaughlin received her B.A. in Art and business and has continued her alumni involvement as a member of the Homecoming Alumni Committee and as a Class Agent. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and served as Administrative Advisor and Treasurer post-graduation.

Named by the Mississippi Business Journal as a member of the Top 40 Under 40, McLaughlin is actively involved in her community as a member of the Junior League of Jackson, the Garden Club of Belhaven and a longtime volunteer of the Central Mississippi Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®, March of Dimes and the Greater Belhaven Foundation.

McLaughlin has also assisted with fundraising campaigns for the United Way of the Capital Area, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Heart Association. She has served on the advisory board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rankin County and as the publicity chair for Belhaven Neighborhood’s Art for the Park and Bright Light Belhaven Nights.

Professionally, McLaughlin has been affiliated with the Jackson Advertising Federation and her advertising and marketing work has been recognized by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Advertising Federation and the Mississippi Hospital Association's Society for Healthcare Marketing & Public Relations.

EMILY MYERS GARNER

With 20 years of experience in communications, Emily Myers Garner has served as the Communications Director for the First Lady of Mississippi, the Director of Marketing & Communications for River Oaks Health System, the Director of Marketing & Public Relations for the American Red Cross of Central Mississippi and the Director of Professional Development for the Mississippi Pharmacists Association.

A graduate of Mississippi University for Women with a B.S. degree in journalism and public relations, Garner is a member of the MUW Hall of Fame and is Past President of the MUW Alumni Association. She was recognized with the 2014 MUW Alumni Service Award and 2006 Young Alum of the Year Award for her alumna efforts.

Named by the Mississippi Business Journal as a member of the Top 40 Under 40 and 50 Leading Businesswomen, Garner is also a graduate of Rankin County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Rankin and the Junior League of Jackson’s Leadership Institute.

An avid volunteer, Garner is an advocate for the Central Mississippi Affiliate of Susan G. Komen® and was named as a 2012 Komen Breast Cancer Survivor of the Year. She is a longtime member of the Junior League of Jackson where she was named as the 2014 JLJ Active of the Year and has served on numerous boards and steering committees to include the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  

Her corporate work in healthcare was granted a national Telly™ award along with recognition from the Jackson Advertising Federation and the Mississippi Hospital Association's Society for Healthcare Marketing & Public Relations.
